Engineer Reference
Search Screen Reference
Understand the cross-record search modal, short-query behavior, and the way search routes into sites, inspections, assets, defects, quotes, and work orders.
Before you start
- You need to jump to a record faster than tab navigation allows.
Expected outcome
You can use search as a routing surface without expecting it to own the record itself.
Main behaviors
- Waits for 2 or more characters before querying.
- Runs an online server query in the active workspace; results remain limited by tenant and record access.
- Returns sectioned sites, inspections, assets, and defects. Quotes and work orders are included only when their remote feature and resolved capability are enabled.
- Always offers the QR-scanner shortcut; the work-order list shortcut follows work-order availability.
